THE NIVEUS CONNECTED PLATFORM GAINS MOMENTUM AT THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER ELECTRONIC SHOW
Support for DLNA Premium Video and addition of Rovi Cloud Services highlight new features demonstrated at CES.
Las Vegas, NV (2012 International CES) – January 10-13, 2012 – Niveus Media, Inc., a leading provider of digital media software, today announced new support for DLNA Premium Video in the Niveus Connected Platform (NCP) software suite of products. The Niveus Connected Platform utilizes the DLNA Interoperability Guideline, Commercial Video Profile for North America (CVP-NA-1) and now enables the secure streaming of live, premium broadcast television from a set-top box to a tablet or PC.
Demonstrated in the Multi-Screen TV demo in the Intel Booth (#7253), the Niveus Connected Platform is rendered in an HTML browser and the user experience and electronic program guide (EPG) are hosted on a set-top box. Video is delivered via the DTCP-IP connection of the set-top box and is secured by the Niveus Connected Platform before being rendered in the video window of the HTML user experience.
Also demonstrated at CES, Niveus has also added support for Rovi Cloud Services to the Niveus Connected Platform, enabling a rich electronic program guide (EPG) and enhanced metadata experience across NCP’s various DVR and Second Screen experiences. Demonstrations are by appointment only and are hosted at Rovi’s “Developer Zone” at Caesar’s Palace.
About the Niveus Connected Platform
The Niveus Connected Platform is comprised of several customizable modules including “Niveus Live TV”, “Niveus DVR”, “Niveus Companion” (second screen experience), and the “Niveus Guide”. These modules work in unison to provide the end user with an advanced software DVR that can be controlled via touch, remote control, or mouse & keyboard.
Designed for compatibility with both Cable & Satellite services, the Niveus Connected Platform is built upon DLNA Interoperability Guidelines, such as CVP-NA-1 and leverages open standards such as UPnP & DTCP-IP to securely transport live TV wirelessly around the home and on to supported client devices. The NCP Device Stack provides full IP control of all supported devices allowing seamless usage and management of content sources and companion devices. NCP utilizes industry standard data encryption for all persistent content and also provides core security & APIs for accessing television recordings, an advanced Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and a rich, customizable user interface.
